These terms govern your use of the Video Spell Checker macOS app and the Spell Checker Cloud verification service, operated by 1001261179 Ontario Inc. ("we", "us"), an Ontario, Canada corporation. By using the app or purchasing a plan, you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].
1. The service
The app is free to download. The local analysis stage runs entirely on your Mac and is free. Spell Checker Cloud is a paid service that verifies flagged text with AI to remove false positives. It is sold as subscriptions with included verification minutes, or as pay-as-you-go minute packs.
2. License
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Macs you own or control, up to your plan's device limit, for your own video work, including commercial client work. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or the service, reverse-engineer them, or circumvent device limits or usage metering.
3. Accounts and devices
Spell Checker Cloud uses email-code sign-in: each Mac receives its own device token, and you can revoke any device from the app's settings. Anyone with access to your sign-in inbox can enroll a device on your plan, so keep that inbox secure. You are responsible for activity on devices signed in to your plan.
4. Plans, minutes, and billing
- Payments are processed by Paddle as merchant of record. Paddle handles checkout, taxes, invoices, and the customer portal, where you can cancel anytime; cancellation stops renewal at the end of the paid period.
- Cloud verification is measured in minutes of video, rounded up to the nearest 30 seconds, and charged when a verification job is accepted. Long videos are capped: 30–60 minutes counts as 30 minutes, and over an hour (up to 3 hours) counts as 60. Videos over 3 hours are not supported and are not charged.
- Unused monthly minutes roll over, up to 3× your monthly allowance. Pay-as-you-go minutes never expire. If a subscription lapses, monthly allowances stop but purchased pay-as-you-go minutes remain usable.
- If a verification job fails on our side, its minutes are refunded automatically.
5. No accuracy guarantee
Video Spell Checker is automated software, not a human proofreader. Detection and verification are performed by machine processing: optical character recognition and AI language models. We do not guarantee that every error will be found, or that everything flagged is a genuine error. False negatives and false positives will occur.
The service assists your quality control; it does not replace it. You remain solely responsible for reviewing and approving your final deliverables.
6. Acceptable use
Only process video you have the right to process. Don't use the service for anything unlawful, don't probe or overload our systems, and don't attempt to use Spell Checker Cloud as a general-purpose AI proxy. Rate limits apply. We may suspend accounts for material violations of these terms.
7. Your content
You keep all rights to your videos. During cloud verification we process cropped frames of flagged text solely to produce verification results. We do not store your videos. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is uploaded, what we keep, and for how long.
8. Availability
Spell Checker Cloud may occasionally be unavailable, including due to upstream providers. Cloud outages never remove or alter local check results. We may change or discontinue features; if we permanently discontinue Spell Checker Cloud, we will refund unused purchased minutes.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app and service are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (including lost profits, lost clients, or re-delivery costs), and our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll notify you by email or in the app; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.
